In your first Arithmancy lesson, you learned how to convert your name into numbers. In this lesson, you will learn about the most basic personal number and how it is found.

The most basic personal number is called the Character Number. The character number is found by:
First, finding your name in numbers. Then, adding all those numbers together. If you get a more-than-one-digit number, add those numbers together. Keep doing that until you get a one digit number. That is your character number.
Example:

1 9 9 1 5 5 1 2 5 3 3 1 4 6 5 2
1+9+9+1+5+5+1+2+5+3+3+1+4+6+5+2 = 62
6+2 = 8
